In 1987, The A.P.P.L.E. Co-Op became The Tech Alliance Co-Op.  This was in large part due to Apple Computer, Inc.'s push to go after anyone using anything similar to the Apple trademark.  While the group had used the A.P.P.L.E. acronym since 1978, the new board of directors decided that it no longer accurately described the group.
